Once you have found an academic advisor, you should undergo application procedures for the relevant faculty or graduate school. As a research student, you must pay the designated examination, admission, and tuition fees. Special Auditing Students and Special Research Students Exchange students will be admitted to Tohoku University as Special Auditing Students or Special Research Students as per exchange agreement. Special Visiting Trainees This status is given to students who receive training at Tohoku University for more than 3 days but less than 90 days. Students from countries having a visa waiver agreement with Japan usually do not obtain a student visa/student residential status. They are not "registered" students.
