The academic conference will bring together leading international scholars engaging in comparative institutional analysis of corporate governance in Europe, North America and East Asia. Our aim is to move beyond static comparisons, and collectively explore the dynamic evolution of institutional diversity. We will collectively explore the following themes: the relationship between legal reform and corporate practice; the extent and impact of changes in national corporate governance institutions since the mid-1990s; the relationship between internationalization and the national diversity of corporate governance; the institutional linkages and complementarities between (changes in) ownership and finance, on one hand, and the role of employees within corporate governance, on the other; The conference format is intended to encourage academic discussion around papers presented by invited scholars. Hence the attendance to the conference will be on an invitation-basis, and closed to the general public. Invitation will be sent by e-mail, so if you wish to attend, please register according to the instruction therein. Following the Academic Conference, a Public Symposium (RIETI Policy Symposium) will be co-hosted by Japan Association of Corporate Executives, Japan Association of Corporate Directors and RIET on January 10.
