The courses are gradated and chronological, designated by year of study. Required Elective Subjects Group A (Global issues subjects) These courses are interdisciplinary in nature, applicable to one’s major field and more specialized subjects. These can be taken from the second year. Group B (Study Abroad Subjects) This group of courses is offered in study abroad programs. While enrolled in the faculty, it is a minimum requirement that students study abroad at least once. Group C (Foreign Languages) This group of courses concerns foreign languages. Classes can be taken in English, German, French, Chinese, Spanish, Russian, Korean, Indonesian, Turkish, Portuguese, Arabic and Italian. However, depending on which course a student belongs to, it may be necessary to choose English as or a language other than English as the principal language of study. Elective Subjects Group A (Regional Studies Subjects) This group of lecture courses is divided into three themed fields of study. The courses are gradated and chronological, designated by year of study. Group B (Regional Studies Subjects offered by other Departments) Following from above, this is a group of lecture courses that can be taken after completing the A group courses. Group C These are elective courses that include licenses or related subject qualifications, courses offered across the university to all students, courses offered by other faculties, University Consortium interchangeable credit courses and interchangeable credit courses with Doshisha Women’s University. Non-categorized Subjects These credits will not suffice for the required graduation credits. However, free courses for licenses or related qualification subjects shall be recognized as such.
