It shares the ethos of Self-Restoration with its parent institution. With a view to meeting the needs of contemporary society, this ethos espouses a spirit that is not afraid of self-change, while maintaining the strength of purpose founded on a robust core. The Graduate School s own most recent Self-Restoration was manifested in the establishment of the Medical-Welfare Management Program. This program aims to train professionals in the administration of medical and welfare institutions, equipping them with the knowledge and skills required in the workplace, in economics, business administration, accountancy and law. The foremost mission and objective of the School is to train specialists to identify issues in our increasingly complex and fluid contemporary society, and to seek comprehensive solutions, equipped with competence in the social sciences and the ability to articulate their own views and opinions clearly. Courses and Fields of Specialization Program Majors and Courses Master&＃8217;s Degree Economics, Economics (Public Administration), Business Administration (Business Administration), Business Administration (Medical Care and Welfare Service Management) Main Fields of Research The ethos of Self-Restoration made its debut on the international stage in 2003 with the launch of the Public Administration (PA) Program, sponsored in part by JICA. The PA program, with its classes conducted entirely in English, is pivotal to the cultivation of global human resources in the School. The PA Program was offered in principle for the benefit of JICA sponsored international students; however, the flexible curriculum allows students from other courses to take up to 14 credits in PA courses. Moreover, from 2010, the course is open to all. Graduate Careers Graduates have gone on to pursue postgraduate studies in doctoral programs, become local and national government civil servants, and find employment in banking institutions, manufacturing, tax accounting, and trading businesses. Special Instructions Applicants to the School may take one of five different types of entrance exam. Applicants may choose the type of entrance exam they take according to their individual abilities. This in turn developed Yamaguchi Commerce High School in 1905. Thus, our Faculty will soon celebrate its 200th anniversary. Its history and tradition are among the longest in Japan.Yamaguchi, which was the cradle of Japan’s modernization through the Meiji Restoration, is endowed with the spirit of initiatives, which is carried into our Faculty as its motto “Self-Restoration,” a spirit that sets one free form fear of changing oneself. In fact, we took initiatives in launching such new programs as the professional accountant program which enables one to obtain a national certificate of public accountant and tax accountant (2004) and the Tourism & Travel Industry Policy studies program (2005)-tourism is considered to become the 21st century’s fastest growing industry. The faculty trains individuals equipped with practical competence in formulating policies in the field.This is time when to foresee future is a challenging task. In such a time, our Faculty is highly acclaimed for its courageous spirit of initiatives. Specialized Fields Program Majors and Courses Master&＃8217;s Degree Economics, Economics (Public Administration), Business Administration (Business Administration), Business Administration (Medical Care and Welfare Service Management) Features of Education The Faculty program consists of five majors and one training program, equipped with a comprehensive educational system designed to “cultivate practical economic human resources students who can contribute to society.” A special emphasis is also placed on basic liberal education, practical skills education and small-size class education. Competent faculty staff tackles not only courses on economics and business administration but also other courses such as bookkeeping and English as well as seminars. Legal education is increasing in importance in economic society and is provided by our Faculty with further improvement. The Faculty confers economics as well as judiciary degrees. Characteristics of Educational Contents The Faculty tackles educational research from the stance: “Generate questions about social phenomena, formulate policies to provide solutions and contribute to a rich structure of society,” aiming to “cultivate human resources and students who can contribute to society.”Since the old days, Yamaguchi has been an active center for transportation and goods distribution, producing a wide variety of prosperous industries in agriculture, forestry, heavy industry and tourism.
