Most of the EU i centers are located in Europe, while in Japan 18 have been established in universities, together with the EU Depositary Library established in the National Diet Library. The EU i at Doshisha opened in 1976, making it the third to be established in Japan. The center provides official publications of the European Union, such as the Official Journal, Treaties, annual report, Bulletin of the EU, etc. sent from the Office for Official Publications of the European Communities in Luxembourg. It is open to the general public, as well as to students, faculty and researchers, as the EU i seeks to promote an understanding of the EU across the broader community. Japan and the EU have organized an event, Friendship Week, each year since 2001 to promote mutual understanding of the societies and cultures of Japan and EU countries. *Doshisha University European Information Center is closed and unavailable for the time being from the 11th August 2023 due to the rebuilding of Imadegawa Library. The opening schedule for the new library will be announced on the special page The New Library Project. Link The following items link to external websites.
