Our goal is to help students develop and maintain health and physical fitness and establish a foundation for lifelong sports participation. Today, our society is increasingly mechanized and automated; daily physical exercise opportunities are becoming few, leading to various health issues, such as lifestyle-related diseases. However, exercise is essential for our health. It is one of the three pillars of health promotion, along with nutrition and rest. Sport participation can provide great exercise, which helps maintain and promote physical fitness, relieve stress, and prevent and improve lifestyle-related diseases. Sports also have cultural and artistic values, and people’s expectations for sports are very high. With this in mind, we provide students with methods for how to exercise in organized and scientific ways through theory and practice. As for community contribution, our department provides posture education and lectures on game addiction and drug abuse at elementary and junior high schools in Ishikawa Prefecture. We have also been conducting health promotion educational activities for local residents through health fairs. In addition, we provide physical support to the players of the Zweigen Kanazawa, a Japanese Soccer League team.
