Some features of this site may not work without it. 2019年5月18日に屋久島で発生した集中豪雨についての総観解析 URI: https://repository.nihon-u.ac.jp/xmlui/handle/11263/2342 Date: 2020-03-05 Abstract: Local heavy rainfall amounting to maximum 99.5mm/h was recorded on Yakushima Island, Kagoshima prefecture. The mechanism of this rainfall was analyzed on the basis of synoptic, isobaric and isentropic charts on 17-18 May 2019. From isobaric charts, the surface strong and more humid SE or ESE winds at 700hPa were observed in Yakushima. At 850hPa, 700hPa and 500hPa, humid air was observed in the vicinity of Yakushima. At 700hPa, upward movement of air parcels ascending with velocity of -63hPa/hr was recorded near Yakushima. At the height of 300hPa and 200hPa, an upper trough passed through around Kyusyu. From isentropic charts, an isentropic slope from Naze to Kagoshima on 310K surface was observed with the ascending velocity of 9.28cm/s at 1200UTC 17 May 2019. Development of convective clouds and vertical movement of air all through the layers of the troposphere were analyzed with the influx of humid air into the low and middle layers. Southeasterly main air currents prevailed along the southwestern edge of the North Pacif-ic High. Very wet airmass with convective instability (θe≧345K, s≧0.015) flew from South China and the South China Sea and converged into the above-mentioned main stream, accompanied with currents of westerly and west-southwesterly winds, which resulted in the heavy rain. Besides, a secondary low formed to the southeast of a low in the western East China Sea (to the northwest of Yakushima), and its circulation led to stagnation of Cumuloninbus （Cb） clouds. Addition-ally, the cloud top height of Cb was estimated about 14km, which corresponded to the tropopause on the heavy rain day. In consequence, these atmospheric conditions are considered to bring the heavy rain to Yakushima on 18 and 19 May 2019.
