We pay close attention to preventing the spread of infectious diseases.Research ProjectOur research group aims to understand and develop therapies for various diseases by measuring and controlling energy metabolism.ATP, which is produced in energy metabolism, forms the basis of homeostasis by regulating ion concentration, signal transduction, and transcription inside and outside the cell. We have succeeded in developing a technology to visualize ATP dynamics in live mice and rats in vivo for the first time in the world. Using this technology, we are promoting physiological, disease, and pharmacological research focusing on the cardiovascular system, skeletal muscle, and central nerves systems.In the cardiovascular system, we are working on new measurements of cardiac diseases, energy efficiency and improvement by drugs, and prediction of cardiotoxicity, based on the analysis of ATP dynamics during the beating of the heart and cardiomyocyte.
